Lying north of the American Cemetery in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig, the 214-hectare, land development known today as Bonifacio Global City (BGC) features a variety of high- to low-rise buildings for business, recreational, residential, and retail uses. With engineering services completed in 2008, BGC has evolved throughout the years into one of the most sought after cities for its prime offerings on business and lifestyle.
The BGC development features an all-underground utility system, keeping the streets orderly and decent looking for the public. It also features an on-site flood mitigation facility using storm water management and a sustainable urban drainage system to reduce flood peaks at the downstream areas of the development. To minimize downstream flooding, a 60-meter diameter, 22,000 cum capacity underground storm water reservoir was constructed underneath Burgos Circle with its top used as an open space/green area.
For this project, DCCD was involved in the preparation of the master plan for the development of the utilities and the detailed engineering design of the complete site development works comprising of the site grading, roads/pavements, drainage system, water supply and distribution system, sewage collection and treatment, underground electrical/power distribution, telecommunications, auxiliaries, and gas line system. DCCD also provided technical support during construction.
Later in 2012, DCCD was engaged again, this time to determine the impact of the underground power transmission routing on the existing site utilities and to undertake utility clash analyses, the civil works design, and the proposed attendant remedial works required. In that same year, DCCD was also asked to prepare an auxiliary system general master plan for the entire BGC development, considering three telecom carriers/service providers that would serve as the basis for the detailed engineering design and the detailed utility clash analyses at the two priority areas within BGC.
