Project Descriptions

The East La Mesa Water Treatment Plant was conceptualized by Manila Water Company, Inc. (MWCI) with the objective of ensuring reliable and sustainable water supply for its service area, particularly in the areas of San Mateo, Rodriguez and Marikina.

The project was composed of two packages. Contract Package 1 (CP1) involved the development, design, construction and commissioning of the following: a) the raw water intake facility and pumping station at La Mesa Reservoir, b) the raw water transmission pipeline from the raw water pumping station to the water treatment plant (WTP), and c) the 150MLD WTP including a treated water pump station. The treated water transmission pipeline and service reservoir were covered by Contract Package 2 (CP2). The water treatment plant is located in the La Mesa Watershed in Brgy. Payatas, Quezon City.

Commissioned by the Makati Development Corporation (MDC), DCCD served as the design consultant for the project’s civil and structural components, as well as the building services such as power distribution and lighting and fire protection. Engineering services for the project were completed in 2012.

Today, the East La Mesa Water Treatment Plant features six process units and six building structures, with its administration building a LEED-certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) infrastructure and the first of its kind in the country’s water industry.
