For the New Doha International Airport, DCCD was involved in the following project components: the North-South extension of Ras Abu Abboud (RAA) Road and the Airside/Landslide Roadways and Parking. The North-South extension project of the RAA Road aimed to upgrade its two existing interchanges, linking the Inner-City Corniche and C ring road to the new international airport. DCCD provided MIDMAC Contracting Co., the EPC Contractor, with design technical staff for the design and preparation of construction shop-drawings of the roadway, tunnel section, bridge/flyover, interchange, and other appurtenant structures of the project. The Airside/Landslide Roadways and Parking includes all construction of access roads and bridges, road lighting, signage marking and striping, surface and sub-surface drainage, safety fencing, and much more.
DCCD was tasked to provide adequate personnel to work hand-in-hand with the contractor’s team in performing services relating to the project, such as the preparation of coordinated civil, structural, architectural, and infrastructural shop-drawings, preparation of bar bending schedules, coordination of all other disciplines, review of sub-contractors’ shop-drawings, and preparation of procurement packages for quotation enquiries. Engineering services for the project were completed in 2010.
